Summary:
New season, new team, same results.
CheckMeOut's horror run against The Gunnas (previously known as White Magic) continued, as they were beaten in the dying seconds of the game once more.
Beginning the game, CheckMeOut seemed to have The Gunnas' measure, with excellent goaltending and quality defence, backed up by an excellent running midfield and finishing forward line as they went into the break with a 2-0 lead, but it was all down hill from there.
With Klaver off injured after not giving up a goal, a fatigued McDonald was forced into goals. This played havoc with the CheckMeOut backline and as a result, ultimately cost them the game. With a surging Gunnas' taking the game 4-3 with two very late strikes sinking CheckMeOut.
Overall, a very strong game from CheckMeOut with their new look team, it is expected that the next two games will measure how far they will come, and also if they will be relegated from Division A.
Three Stars:
3rd Star: D. Klaver - An absolute wall in goals, conceded zero goals and would've been a big influence had he not of gotten injured.
2nd Star: C. Roussos - Bags a goal in the first half to put CheckMeOut 1-0 up, and was busy all game.
1st Star: L. Ashby - Provided the bulk of the offence, both scoring and setting up plays, also played well in defence throughout the night.
