Summary:
At the end of the last season, CheckMeOut had a bit of time to look back on what went wrong, they made some wheeling and dealings, trading in goaltender Klaver and securing the rights to previous loaned player, Lester Cheung. It seems the acquisition will be one which is quite handy indeed.
CheckMeOut came out and broke a significant record, prior to this game, they had never won their first league game in a season, they then struck the record books again, when every single player on the team scored, including two from Lester, and a very unexpected goal from McDonald, scoring his first ever goal, and the first goal of the season for CheckMeOut, makes you wish you had a couple of dollars on him, as it would've paid out big.
Davis began in goal, and made precisely zero saves, conceding one, but the CheckMeOut coverage was quite tight in front of him, and the shooting was pretty poor also. After a goal in the first half, McDonald stepped between the posts and had a shocker, conceding 3, including a bizzare goal where he cleared the ball, richocheting off the opponents back and screaming into the net. Perhaps an own goal, but so was Sos', so we'll call it even. Though he did make the bulk of the 8 saves his team had to face.
Lest tore through the field time and time again, including a wicked strike to score his first goal of the season. Marty also chipped in with a blinder of a goal, and Davis was left to score the last remaining goal off a good through ball from McDonald.
Lest unfortunately picked up the first card of the season too, but it was a throw away card from a ref who gave out 3 during the whole game even though there was no need.
A confident start for CheckMeOut, but it remains to be seen how they will fair defensively. Offense looks tip top though.
Three Stars:
3rd Star: C. Roussos - Very tough to split the 3rd star votes, but Sos just gets his head in.
2nd Star: L. McDonald - Kicked off the season with a goal destroying the record of 23 games without a goal, and fed the ball nicely around the field all night.
1st Star: L. Cheung - Banged home two great goals and set up some great plays, no denying Lest 1st star.
