Summary:
The new look CheckMeOut was back out on the field again tonight, against the Beers, previous winners of the Denslow Cup, but it was CheckMeOut boys who came away smiling, after a hard fought 5-4 win.
CheckMeOut came out in the first half all guns blazing, kicking all 5 of their teams goals in the first half, with Lest putting on a show with 3 of his own, plus an own goal.
Butler kept well during the first half, and made a number of fine saves. Supporting Lest in the goal category this week was Davis, whose goal was his 50th for CheckMeOut, becoming the first ever player to achieve that milestone, and once again, suprisingly, McDonald, who buried home a rebound from a Davis shot into the back of the net.
Michael Templer returned to the CheckMeOut squad after missing out on a week with an ankle, he came on at the start of the second half, replacing McDonald. The signs were good for Temps, who managed to play out the rest of the game without much discomfort, and it is expected he will return for next weeks game against So Bo's.
It was a completely different game in the second half however, CheckMeOut turned defensive and did quite well in doing so, conceding just one goal to make the game look a little closer than it actually was. CheckMeOut running out comfortable winners, 5-4.
Three Stars:
3rd Star: M. Butler - Marty did well in goals during the first half and earned himself the 3rd star.
2nd Star: R. Davis - Tough to split the 2nd and 3rd votes, but Davis gets the nod for scoring a goal and keeping well in the second half.
1st Star: L. Cheung - Banged home two great goals and set up some great plays, no denying Lest 1st star.
