Summary:
CheckMeOut tonight returned to their full strength side for the first time since Game 1, against the Gunnas on the 11th of October, and the signs are good.
Playing only their second game as a whole unit, CheckMeOut put up quite a fight in front of a more fancied opponent, unlucky to go down 3-1.
In a very tight first half, CheckMeOut's defence, led by McDonald, prevented AXE to get many shots on goal, and as a result, CheckMeOut were able to go into halftime down just 1-0.
The second half was much the same, an early goal from AXE put them up 2-0 until Butler, with his first of the season put CheckMeOut on the board. It was a fantastic display from Butler, who now seems to be finding his way in the team with back-to-back high quality games.
McDonald had the best opportunity to tie the game in a knot, but his left foot shot just took the post and scores remained 1-2. Team AXE consolidated by burying a late goal with McDonald off the field and that was that.
CheckMeOut can look forward to future weeks, but this coming week they face the might of the Bayswater Strikers, who lead the league.
Three Stars:
3rd Star: C. Roussos - Definately earned a lot of the ball, had some good attempts on goal and was pretty much everywhere all night.
2nd Star: L. Ashby - Continues his consistant play, running as lone striker presents opportunity after opportunity for him and his team mates.
1st Star: M. Butler - Second big game in as many weeks for Butler who also provides CheckMeOut's offence this week. A great effort all night.
