Summary:
This is a game that should have been a blowout in CheckMeOut's favour, but it wasn't to be so.
The first goal coming within minutes for Prackers as a relatively simple save was dropped through the goals by Klavs. Sloppy midfield work by Prackers led to a few early opportunities for CheckMeOut , but most were either wide of the target or stopped by the goalkeeper, until Templer got a good solid strike at the ball to put it into the left side of the net to even up the scores 1-1.
But that comeback was short lived when another goal was put through by Prackers to regain their lead minutes later. A little while later, a lucky deflection which went past 2 defenders across the D fell right to an unmanned striker was struck past a forward moving Klaver, who could do little except watch it go sailing into the net to give Prackers a 3-1 lead.
Seconds before the end of the 1st half, Davis sunk a relatively easy goal to cut the lead back to 1.
A shellshocked CheckMeOut side leaving the field at half time down 2-3.
Returning to the field for the second half, CheckMeOut wasted no time in evening up the scores when a good strike from Davis was sent into the bottom right corner. But once again the tied game was short lived when another goal was put past Klaver to put Prackers up yet again.
A couple of quick goals from Ashby and Templer put CheckMeOut ahead finally. Things were looking OK with the ball being moved around smoothly and a couple of shots generated, until Prackers got a very controversial goal which was thought to be inside the D, but McGee the ref deemed the goal scorer's foot to be outside the D. This writer still believes it was inside, however. Scores remained tied, with a few good saves from Klaver stemming the flow of Prackers' offence.
CheckMeOut had one last chance to salvage a win from this game when a dumb slide tackle from a Prackers defender gave CheckMeOut a free kick from 2 metres outside the semi circle. CheckMeOut gave it everything, with a dummy run from Ashby, but it was to no avail, Davis' strike going high and right.
A disappointing game for CheckMeOut, but it can only give them more motivation for next week, when they face NWV.
Three Stars:
Third Star: R. Davis - played a good game, bagging 2 goals and also helping out in defence.
Second Star: C. Roussos - played well in defence, and actually stayed in defence most of the game to help out newcomer Klaver.
First Star: M. Templer - good game from the youngest member of the team, bagging 2 goals and picking up a couple of assists.
