Summary:
A game against a team who have a fierce rivalry between each other normally turns out to be a good game, but occasionally you get ones which are a non-event before they even start.
CheckMeOut tonight found out what happens when only half a team come to play, against the sheer dominance of the Gunnas.
Previous matches between the two games resulted in four 1-goal losses to CheckMeOut, a tie and a forfeit. This game however was not even close, when at half-time CheckMeOut were already down 6-0, and the game was over.
To their credit CheckMeOut managed to get over one hurdle, getting on the scoreboard, albeit under speculation. McDonald charged back on after the half time break and a long rest on the bench with a tight hamstring, steaming down the side of the court to win the ball deep in their attack, and crossed the ball to the middle of the court to Butler, who found Sos trailing on the right hand side, Sos sent the ball home and the goal was given, a line ball on whether Sos had or had not shot it from outside the D. The goal counted however, and CheckMeOut then conceded another 6 goals before the whistle went for full time.
Overall a very dismal effort from a game expected to be a little more competitive.
Three Stars:
3rd Star: C. Roussos - Picks up his team leading 5th goal.
2nd Star: M. Butler - In a game where the forwards barely got a sniff, Marty was around the most, battling and got an assist on Sos' goal.
1st Star: L. McDonald - A tough game for the defender, but McDonald stood tall like a captain should, seeming to be the only player able to stop anything on the court.
