Summary:
One half of football does not equal a game, unfortunately for CheckMeOut though, they probably wish it was.
A second half fadeout put a fantastic first half to shame in a game where CheckMeOut seemed to be able to match it with one of the league leaders.
Playing without central defender McDonald after he broke his toe in a previous game, CheckMeOut came out with a very offensive game, after all, the best defence is a good offence. In the first half, after trailing early 2-0, CheckMeOut fought back well to go into a 4-4 tie against Manchester.
Watson, on a scoring spree of late found the net on a perfectly placed shot, top left off the crossbar to open his teams scoring, pulling back 1-2. CheckMeOut could never secure a lead though as Manchester scored from halfcourt to go back up by two goals, after missing a perfect opportunity to score via a penalty shot for a "hand ball" that happened to hit Sos' face. Templer then, in his second game of the season recieved a perfect ball and coincidentally fired off another perfect ball to get back to 2-3, Sos then levelled it with a superb strike, his fifth of the season, CheckMeOut's third of the half, a rarity this season. But they weren't done there. Manchester scored again, followed by another Sos strike, adding his 6th to get CheckMeOut right back in it at half time, going in happily at 4-4.
The second half over shadowed the good showing though. With Manchester gaining their 5th and final player for the last half, it stopped CheckMeOut's goal scoring flow and they were held goalless for the 2nd half, Manchester booting home 3 more to win 7-4.
A very good showing from CheckMeOut who, after the 3 week Christmas break should regain McDonald and go in with a full side once more against Team AXE, a team who failed to put away CheckMeOut in their first game.
Three Stars:
3rd Star: M. Templer - Comes into the side to replace McDonald and buries a goal in the process, was one of the stand outs throughout the game.
2nd Star: A. Watson - Puts CheckMeOut on the scoreboard with his 2nd in as many games and provided plenty of defensive pressure.
1st Star: C. Roussos - Sends two goals home and was the spark on the field all night. When he subbed off you could feel the team deflate.
