Summary:

If CheckMeOut ever needed an A-grade performance it was tonight.

Coming off the back of a weeks rest due to easter and what can only be described as their worst game ever against the Gunnas going down 12-1, CheckMeOut arrived at the dome to find their opponent had tied Manchester, a team CheckMeOut have never even got close to 0-0.

CheckMeOut came out expecting another drubbing after the withdrawals of goaltender Klaver and midfielder Templer before the game, as well as losing Butler at the start of the week. How wrong they would be.

The team hit the field with McDonald taking the first shift in goal, which then was to become the only shift. McDonald was nothing short of his once-stellar self, backstopping a remarkable victory where no player could be seperated between each other, as the best team effort from CheckMeOut came to the fore. It was reminiscent of CheckMeOut of a year ago, in season 2002. Ashby, Davis, Roussos and Watson on the field, with McDonald in goal, though some things change, there are plenty of others which don't.

CheckMeOut looked like the team that knocked over giant, Ethnics 3-0. McDonald was on fire and the team around him generated their biggest offensive game of the season. Being fed all night by McDonald and then the rest of the team. The goals were nothing short of picture perfect, CheckMeOut getting that extra pass in to set up better chances, and they buried at least 85% of them, with very few shots actually missing the target. Most goals were carbon copies of the others, McDonald would gather the ball, find the right player in the right place, who would in turn put on a perfect pass onto a perfect shot. A perfect game all round offensively.

But the great offense was only overshadowed by the dominating defence which limited a team with a fair share of scoring talent to just 13 shots. 5 of which came in the last 5 minutes when the lack of substitutes obviously started to show on a tired CheckMeOut, conceding their first 2 goals in the game extremely late, stopping any hope of a clean sheet.

CheckMeOut will more than likely ride this high into the next game when they take on the cellar-dwellers, NWU. Could we see another season high offensive game?

Three Stars:

1st Star: L. Ashby - Buries 4 great goals as well as Chino, not bad for a defender. Absolutely devastating at both ends.
1st Star: R. Davis - Sends home a hat trick, reclaims the scoring lead, despite three goals plays very unselfishly setting up many goals.
1st Star: L. McDonald - Lmac Cloutier came through big time tonight, leading from the back, a gem of a captains game in goal. Came within 5 minutes of a clean sheet and was back to his best sledging self. Kept busy by setting up countless plays resulting in goals, and doing all the little things that needed to be done in goal.
1st Star: C. Roussos - Most unlucky on the field having two goals disallowed after play stopped, did everything right.
1st Star: A. Watson - A pinch-hitting Wato came in for just his 2nd game, picks up his 2nd goal and 2nd first-star. Tell me again why he retired.
