Summary:
The leadup to this week's game against Ethnics was blow after blow for CheckMeOut. Ashby still injured, Watson out, Roussos out and just 2 hours before the game, Templer - out.
The remaining members rang in the changes introducing Martin Butler and Alex Tuason to the undermanned side who then went about their business in true CheckMeOut style, beating a full strength Ethnics 5-4. Davis instrumental with his clutch 3-goal performance.
The game was quiet uneventful, but two second half goals to the debutants sealed the game, even when Ethnics were looking to level the score. As depicted by the final score, the CheckMeOut defensive unit headed by McDonald starved their strikers of the one elusive goal.
CheckMeOut now finish the season 2nd on the ladder after their victory, though it holds little significance bar the mental advantage, as they will once again face up with a hopefully full strength side, with Ashby being the only doubt, against Ethnics next week, in CheckMeOut's debut finals appearance in their debut season.
Three Stars:
3rd Star: L. McDonald - Replacing Roussos as defender and doing almost as well. Broke down numerous plays and set up many more and put on a display of fantastic challenges, shutting down both Tazz and their Eastern Rep.
2nd Star: M. Butler - Coming in to play the final game as a replacement for Watson, bags a goal and displayed sheer class all night.
2nd Star: A. Tuason - A very late change, bags the eventual game winner and proved his selection.
1st Star: R. Davis - Scores the hat trick while the chips were down in a game CheckMeOut was never meant to win.
