Summary:

The dream of Champions is over for CheckMeOut in their stellar debut season, as Ethnics knocked them out of contention 4-2 on Friday night.

A very tough first half for both teams, with CheckMeOut conceding the first goal midway through the first half from a 1 on 1 with keeper McDonald. Ethnics and CheckMeOut both managed just 2 shots in the first half, and the game was pretty much in deadlock at 1-0 until right on the half time whistle, Watson buried a certainty for goal on the month with a very good individual effort burying the ball well and truly past the keeper levelling the game at 1-1. When Davis went down early in the first half and needing to sub off, the inspirational recovery of Ashby was seen, as he entered the field just 2 weeks after sustaining a horrific ankle injury. He managed to play on for the next 5 minutes in defence and did so courageously and well. You could feel his presence lifted the team.

When the second half resumed, so did the exciting action, with Tazz burying a goal from half court which was left unsighted by McDonald who tried valiantly to stop it, but just missed it on the bounce as he dived to his left. A few minutes later, from some very good passing around, Watson bagged his second goal of the game and the scores were once again level at 2-2. But from there, Ethnics took control, booting 2 more goals, on a 2 on 2 and 1 on 1 with the goalie. McDonald producing the best save of the season wasn't enough to get CheckMeOut over the line.

All in all, quite a dissapointing result for CheckMeOut, but it would be agreed that the better team won on the night, and Ethnics will next week face White Magic to see if they can become the first team to beat them this year. Meanwhile CheckMeOut face arch rivals Prackers for the battle for 3rd and 4th positions.

Three Stars:

3rd Star: L. Ashby - His remarkable come back deserves votes
2nd Star: L. McDonald - Comes back for his first game in goals for 3 weeks and shows some form which he hadn't found all season, including a highlight reel save late in the second half.
1st Star: A. Watson - Proved his big game status, bagging his teams only 2 goals, a pure inspiration for his team.
