Summary:
A not so confident CheckMeOut offense would've been glad to see the the opposition tonight, as CheckMeOut sitting 8th took on 10th placed Prackers tonight. A team who CheckMeOut have had a good history with on the scoring front.
CheckMeOut failed to generate a lot of offense, but their defensive game was superb. After going up 2-0 by half-time, via two Davis strikes, one a superb individual effort, CheckMeOut came out in the second half and shut Prackers down entirely.
Klavs had a certain clean sheet denied however, when a free kick taken from the edge of the box took the right goal post, bounced off the top post and onto Klaver's back as it fell into the net. Not an easy goal to let go for a goalie, but to Klaver's credit he stuck with it and finished the game with a very good game all up.
But the main story of the game was a CheckMeOut defense who has been a little wayward in the last couple of weeks.
"I think if we get the defending done, the scoring is bound to present itself at some stage" said captain and central defender McDonald, "all it takes is a couple of lucky bounces and a couple of passes, and the goals will come."
CheckMeOut will host Platnium Scissors this week, most likely without Klavs in the net, which raises a problem if McDonald, who has yet to recover fully from a few niggles from the Independant game on the 9th of May, as he has yet to play out a full game since then.
Three Stars:
3rd Star: D. Klaver - Just one post denied him a clean sheet.
2nd Star: L. McDonald - Prackers never had a decent scoring chance with McDonald on his game in defence, made a few plays up forward too.
1st Star: R. Davis - Davis picks up the only 2 goals for CheckMeOut and then moved back to stifle the opposition in defence in the second half.
